Deborah Baldizar grew up in Groton, Massachusetts. After receiving her undergraduate degree in Business from the University of New Hampshire, she fell in love with clay and figure sculpture taking a continuing education course at UMASS Amherst. The spirit of adventure led her to pack up everything and move to San Francisco, where she worked as an arts intern at Southern Exposure, a San Francisco based Arts organization, serving inner-city youth and lucked into a job teaching sculpture for two years at The Ruth Asawa San Francisco School of the Arts (SOTA). It was there that she realized art is a catalyst for social change and a powerful tool for communication. She went on to receive a Masters of Fine Art in Sculpture from the University of Massachusetts - Dartmouth. She is passionate about all aspects of the art making process and dedicated to facilitating creative experiences as a vehicle for personal expression and empowerment.

Since receiving her M.F.A. in sculpture, Deborah has shown her work throughout the U.S., taught at several colleges and delivered workshops and artist talks throughout New England. She has been invited to numerous group and solo shows and was included in the book, CAST: Art and Objects. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Art at Lasell University and exhibiting her sculpture in galleries and museums throughout the country.
